- We have gorgeous Icelandic fleeces for sale from our fall shearing. These are raw, un-skirted fleeces. Colors ranging from white, brown, tan, and blacks. One beautiful black grey! Our new ram's fleece is available for $45.00. His fleece won reserve champion at last year's Washington County fair in NY over all sheep in all categories. All other adult fleeces are $35.00 each (or 2 for $65). The adults were professionally shorn this fall by Jim McRea, so there will be very few second cuts. These fleeces are very clean. We also have lamb's fleeces which we will sell for $25.00 each. We sheared the lambs our self and are still learning, so there may be an abundance of second cuts, but the fleeces are clean and still very nice being lamb's fleece. - Vermont Farm-sitting Network http://groups.yahoo.com/group/farm-sit/
Please come join our co-op of small farms in northern Vermont and exchange farm-sitting with other farmers in your area. Each member of the group has a small farm (under 30-ish animals) and sooner or later would like to go on a weekend trip or week-long vacation. You have probably experienced the same problem. How do you convince someone to take care of all of your animals? Will you feel confident that the person can handle it while you're gone? No money changes hands in this network. Each member must be known by or referred by at least one other member of the group. Then we can vouch for the sitters being good upstanding responsible people. Each sitter starts with 10 days of farm-sitting points. To earn more points you can farm-sit for another member. When you want to have someone farm-sit for you then post a request and "pay" your sitter with one point per day. Tell your friends and neighbors and help us spread the word, item # 500

- Rent-a-Goat landscaping from Wicked Good Farm Schedule us for your lawn care or brush clearing project. Why use goats for landscaping? 1. Goats can easily clear steep slopes, ditches, or rocky areas where heavy equipment can't reach. This minimizes erosion and soil compaction. They can eat grass, brush, leaves, and even poison ivy! 2. They provide on-site composting and organic fertilizer which can help to restore degraded soil. It's safer for the water supply than toxic herbicides. 3. It's carbon neutral with almost no emissions except for the gas to transport them to your site. Goats are much more sustainable than a gas-powered lawn mower, and more pleasant to see and hear as well. 4. They're cute, friendly and entertaining!
